It's Fall Y'all On October 15th, I turned in Blood Worth Bottling, book two in the Technically Dead Detective Myseries series. Whew! Time to catch my breath for about, oh, 16 days, then it's DenNoWriMo time. Formerly NaNoWriMo, this is a frenzied effort by writers across the country to write a 50,000 word novel draft in 30 days. I've participated several times, and since book three is right around the corner, it comes at the perfect time for me to start drafting. Oh, and ther

Holy smokes, it's September already. I'll be honest, I'm a summer person. Even though I write about vampires, I love the sun and the heat and the long days. Once September rolls around and everyone starts posting about pumpkin spice, I get a bit melancholy, because I know that winter is right around the corner. Enjoy your lattes and cozy sweaters, y'all, but I'll be over here with my dog, soaking up all the sunshine I can get. If you would like to subscribe to these updates,

Check out the cover for the 2026 Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Anthology: True Story! It's pretty rad. I know some of the other contributors personally, and some I know by reputation. Others I'm looking forward to meeting at the launch event or this year's Gold Conference. I'll post the link as soon as this goes up for sale. Proceeds go to the fund for RMFW's youth scholarship - this does not make anyone any money. Buying the anthology makes local authors feel special becaus

August updates Well, it's a hot and smoky summer. Feels like a return to the COVID-era, when N-95 masks served a dual purpose: to protect us from plagues and toxic fumes. Fun times we live in ... right? We're having fun? Anyway, here's what's going on in my little corner of the world. (If you found this update from a link and would like to subscribe, click here.) Bloodbath at VampCon audiobook news! Breaking news! Patrick Zeller will be the narrator for Bloodbath at Vampcon.

Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers publishes an anthology every two years. This year, I'm included as one of the authors ... true story! The anthology is titled "True Story," because each story was inspired by a real event, person, location, etc. Our launch party will be at 4pm on September 26th at Haven Coffee & Books in Aurora, Colorado. Hope to see you there!

Just sent out my first newsletter! It's a basic update for July 2026. One of the pieces of advice new authors get all the time is "Start a newsletter!" It's a great idea! But it's also yet another task, yet another expense, yet more time away from writing. Not to mention time away from day jobs, exercise, social life, family, etc. For those reasons, creating a newsletter has been on the bottom of my list of things to do. But if I want to be a "real" author with a successful b

Bloodbath at VampCon is live on Goodreads! I have a love/hate relationship with Goodreads, to be completely real. First of all, the site and the app are occasionally completely broken. But I've been using the site since 2014, which feels a little nuts. Back then, I reviewed and rated books, sure. But mostly I used Goodreads to keep track of what I read. My memory is truly terrible, so I still need some mechanism to track what I read, otherwise I will never know what to say wh

The Amazon page for Bloodbath at VampCon (Technically Dead Detective Mysteries Book One) is live! The release date for book one is still quite a ways away (March 9, 2027) and print/audio details will be forthcoming. But for now, I'm excited to share the cover and start getting readers on board for Mitchell's first case! Like What We Do in the Shadows meets Only Murders in the Building, Bloodbath at VampCon is a cheeky fusion of murder mystery with urban fantasy set in a world
