August updates

Well, it's a hot and smoky summer. Feels like a return to the COVID-era, when N-95 masks served a dual purpose: to protect us from plagues and toxic fumes. Fun times we live in ... right? We're having fun?

Anyway, here's what's going on in my little corner of the world.

Breaking news! Patrick Zeller will be the narrator for Bloodbath at Vampcon. I can't wait to listen to his performance!

Cool stuff from my friends + what is "craft" anyway

One of the coolest parts about being in the writing community is getting to know talented and hard-working people, then sharing (and learning from) their successes. These folks have helped me grow as a writer, and have helped me think seriously about writing as a business and a craft. I don't often think of myself as having "a craft," because that sounds a bit pretentious, to be honest. But the way I approach writing, stories, editing, sharing my stuff ... that has all been influenced by the conversations we've had and the way we've treated our work over the years.

Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Anthology Launch Party

Come celebrate the launch of the 2026 Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers Anthology! This year's theme is "True Story," and features a selection of stories inspired by real events.

My short story, "The Dance" is included. It's a fictionalized account of a real event that took place deep in the dark belly of a mountain during Colorado's mining boom. My version of the events includes a supernatural flair, because who can resist adding ghosts to a story? Certainly not me.
